The Right Way to Detox Cleanse

How often should you detox cleanse ? Detoxification, or detox for short, simply means the removal of toxic substances in the body by the use of certain products or by following a special diet. This thereby leads to an improvement in health and promotes weight loss for the patient.

The human body has its own natural detoxifying system which carries out this process without needing supplements. But there are certain activities that we can carry out to either help improve this system. They include;

  1. Reduce alcohol intake: Alcohol is broken down in the liver into acetaldehyde which is a toxin (cancer-causing chemical). The liver deals with this threat by converting it to acetate before eliminating it from the body. Regular intake of alcohol can damage the liver leading to fat build up, scarring, and inflammation caused by a failure in the liver’s function resulting to its inability to filter wastes and toxins, and therefore they accumulate in the body.
  2. Increase your sleep time: Sleep allows the brain to relax and recharge itself. It is also the time where the brain removes toxins that have been accumulated during the day’s work. An example of this toxin is a protein called beta-amyloid which is partly responsible for Alzheimer’s disease. Sleep deprivation does not give the brain enough time to carry out this function. So toxins can accumulate when we do not sleep well enough.
  3. Increase your water intake: There are a lot of benefits that water poses to the body than just thirst quenching. Water regulates body temperature, aids nutrient absorption and digestion, lubricates joints and also removes waste products from the body, thereby helping to detoxify the body. Water helps remove waste products through urine, breathing and sweats. So it is important to stay hydrated for good detoxification. The averagely recommended daily water intake for men is 3.7 liters and 2.7 liters for women.
  4. Reduce your salt intake: Taking in too much salt causes the body to retain excess fluids in it, especially if you don’t take enough water or you have a kidney or liver condition. The accumulation of this excess fluids can cause bloating. To eliminate this excess fluids, take more water and less salt. This will lead to increased urination and the excess water will be lost.
  5. How To Detox And Cleanse The Blood: Exercise your body regularly: Science has associated regular exercises with a reduction in the risk of a number of diseases and health conditions like high blood pressure, heart related diseases, type 2 diabetes and some types of cancer. Regular exercise is linked with a longer lifespan. These exercises help to reduce inflammation in the body and this helps the body systems to carry out their functions properly. This also includes the detoxification system. The recommended amount of exercise is at least 150-300 minutes of moderate intensity exercise like brisk walking per week or 75-150 minutes of hard intensity physical exercise like running per week.

The word detox have been commonly used for drug addicts undergoing rehab. So it is easy to think that you do not need one since you are not an addict. But the truth is we all do. And thankfully we can help our bodies carry it out naturally by taking these daily activities of ours more seriously.
