  • 1 and ½ lb. cod – You may also want to use any other flaky and white fish.
  • 3 tbsps. olive oil
  • 2 tsps. chili powder
  • ½ tsp. each of cayenne pepper and ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • Juice extracted from 1 lime
  • ½ tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 8 corn tortillas
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 diced avocado

You should also prepare the following ingredients that you can use in making the corn slaw:

  • Juice extracted from 1 lime
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 2 tbsps. cilantro (freshly chopped)
  • 1 minced jalapeño
  • 1 cup corn kernels
  • 2 cups purple cabbage (shredded)
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise


  1. Prepare a medium-sized and shallow bowl where you can whisk lime juice, cayenne, chili powder, paprika, cumin, and olive oil together. Add the cod then toss it until it has even coating. Marinate it for around 15 minutes.
  2. While marinating the cod or fish, you can start preparing the corn slaw. What you should do is to add mayonnaise, cilantro, honey, and lime juice into a large-sized bowl. Whisk these ingredients together then add the corn, jalapeño, and cabbage. Add some salt and pepper as seasonings.
  3. Put the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet set over medium-high heat. Heat the oil in there. Get the marinated cod then use the salt and pepper mixture to season the two sides of every fillet. You should then put each one on the skillet with the flesh facing down.
  4. Cook the marinated cod for around three to five minutes each side or until it gets cooked through and looks opaque. Allow it to rest for around five minutes then use a fork to flake it.
  5. Once done, you can assemble the tacos. After that, you can serve it over grilled tortillas along with avocado and the prepared corn slaw.
  6. Top it with lime juice and use sour cream as garnish.

The recipe mentioned is just one out of the many versions of white fish taco you can easily make at home. You can make your own version, too, and add your unique flare.
